Diving Centre

Jeff’s Pro Dive Centre, 20km south of Inhambane, in the stunning bay of Praia de Jangamo is perfectly positioned to dive some of the most exciting locations in the world. Right here in our backyard is Southern Mozambique’s predominantly unexplored fringing reef with breath-taking corals, countless schools of game fish, turtles, sharks, dolphins, manta rays and humpback whales.

House Reef Sites 3 to 5 minutes

Batfish Pinnacle: Schools of the enigmatic batfish gave this site its name, while plenty of game fish, potato bass, white tip sharks and turtles will also pop bye for a visit. Whip, plate and staghorn corals abound, whilst the pinnacle provides an interesting obstacle for encircling fish shoals. The pinnacle is also a great night dive, keep your eyes peeled for sleeping turtles and parrot fish under the ledges.

Caves: A breath-taking shallow dive and for many beginners a fantastic introduction to the underwater world. An amphitheatre is filled with shoals of blue-banded snappers, big eye cressi tails, a multitude of nudibranches, paperfish, morays and crustaceans. The various swim-thrus and boulders feature exciting species such as a resident Dragon Eel Orangutan crabs and if you’re lucky you might even spy an Octopus.

Devils Peak: One of our greatest local dive sites, Devils Peak is an almost free standing rock with a swim through and is home to Potato Bass, an abundance of frogfish, arrow and porcelain crabs, ghost pipefish, resident paperfish and juvenile emperor angel fish. Plenty of caves and overhangs to explore for the more experienced diver!

Disneyland: A perfect spot for the adventure seeker! This newly discovered deep dive is one of Southern Mozambique’s best kept secrets. As we descend, you’ll purr at the massive schools of game fish cruising past in the blue, and once we’re down there you’ll be so amazed by the density of fish, you won’t know where to look.

Hard Rock: Situated just offshore, hard rock is a very short boat trip. Keep your eyes open for the most spectacular and interesting creatures you have ever seen! Cleaner shrimps, anyone for a manicure? Seamoths, bar tail flat heads, plenty of moray's, crayfish, devil firefish, flat worms and more…

Lego: This brand new dive site has recently been discovered in the bay just opposite Jeff’s Pro Dive Centre. Lego is located just minutes away from our launching spot and is so untouched that every dive is almost guaranteed to throw up a surprise or two...

Pao Rock: A Praia de Jangamo classic. Only a 3 min boat ride from the beach, this reef brags numerous species of morays, reef sharks, crocodile flat heads, mantis and cleaner shrimps, crustaceans and sting rays. Interested in macro photography? The resident nudibranch population will have you clicking away to your heart’s content!

Tombstone: THE perfect place for sighting sting rays, sharks, greentree coral with resident morays intertwined, long nose hawk hawkfish, sea apples and shoals of game fish including the sensational sailfish.

Turtle Creek: Experience the amazing feeling when descending onto a reef between families of Green Turtles, which do not even seem bothered by the divers’ presence.

Northern Sites 15 to 30 minutes

Green Tree: A 10m high wall, covered in green coral trees, home to long nose hawk fish, yellow sea apples, big shoals including banner fish, sting rays, potato bass. Mid water frequented by gamefish.

Manta Reef: Fast becoming famous throughout the dive community, Manta Reef is regarded as one of the best dive sites in Africa if not the world. The reef offers a huge diversity of marine life including numerous giant mantas. The reef has north and south walls with adjacent pinnacles of rocks creating gullies at depths of 24m to 28m. These walls provide shelter for large schools of yellow snapper, barracuda, bigeyes, fusiliers, hundreds of bright blue red-fang trigger fish, tiny goldies, fairy basslets and so on. Large potato inhabit overhangs and small caverns, along with green turtles and sweetlips. The list of stunning marine life is endless. The cracks and crevices are home to scorpion fish, morays (giant, honeycomb, geometric, yellow-edge, white mouth….), crocodile fish, Spanish dancers and a whole array of nudibranches and cowries. There are three main cleaning stations where the huge manta rays circle and hover to allow small fish to remove parasites from their bodies. Playful devil rays and sometimes eagle rays swim above the reef and on occasion it’s possible to see sharks and other rays.

XTC: Also having 2 cleaner stations, this lesser dived site with its crevices and ledges is often the place to observe Mantas quietly circling while being groomed by cleaner wrasse. Garden eels, turtles, devil rays and large crayfish as well as zebra sharks and bow mouthed guitar sharks, make this a favourite.

Southern Sites 10 to 20 minutes

Coral Gardens: Situated close to Paindane. This is a perfect dive site for open water students to catch their first glimpse of the underwater world. The reef starts at 5m and you can make your way down to depths of 12m over the hardpan. A reef barrier protects this site, which is also fantastic for snorkelling.

Paindane Express: The strong current around the reef has earned its nickname "Paindane express". The reef begins close to shore in about 18m of water and runs rapidly down to 35m. Brilliantly coloured Corals, Gorgonian Sea Fans, and fast moving game fish occasional sightings of reef sharks make for a particularly interesting dive. As you cruise on by, be sure to take a look up, as you might even spot the mighty whale shark passing through.

Island Rock: Island Rock is another one of Jeff’s Pro Dive Centre’s new dive sites. Depths range from 6m to 14 m. The dive route takes you into the reef and you’ll be astounded by the overhangs, boulders and swim throughs that make Island Rock one of our most interesting dives. Take a peek into the many cracks and crevices and you’re bound to find an abundance of morays, crayfish, lionfish and scorpionfish. Game fish, reef sharks and even the occasional Raggy have also been known to stop by.

PADI Discover Scuba Diving

If you’re looking for a convenient way to try scuba, look to a PADI Discover Scuba Diving experience to broaden your horizons. Give it a try. Diving can change your life. The Discover Scuba Diving course provides an introduction to SCUBA diving that includes confined water training plus a dive to 12 meters; a great opportunity to try scuba diving in a tropical environment with no commitment, plus Discover Scuba Diving skills may be credited toward the PADI Open Water Diver certification.

PADI Bubble Maker &Seal Team

1/2 day including 1 Confined Water Dive

Discover Scuba for Kids: for young adventurers, the bubble maker program is an introduction to the thrill of breathing underwater. If you're eight or nine years of age, now is your chance to take the plunge with a PADI Instructor and go diving.

The PADI Seal Team is for young divers who are looking for an action-packed, adventurous program filled with exciting scuba "Aqua Missions."

Have you ever wondered what it's like to dive with flashlights, take pictures underwater or float effortlessly like an Astronaut? If you have, this is your chance to explore these exciting adventures in a swimming pool. As a PADI Seal, you learn the basics of safe diving and explore different Aqua Missions - or specialty dives - like wreck, navigation, buoyancy, underwater photography, environmental awareness and more.

PADI Open Water Diver

3 to 4 days including 5 Confined Water Dives and 4 Open Water Dives

If you’ve always wondered what lies beneath the surface, now’s the time to find out. Start the journey of a lifetime with the PADI Open Water Course. It will change you forever, certifying you as a PADI diver, enabling you to dive anywhere in the world to 18 meters.

During the course you will spend half a day mastering key skills within our custom built training pool, which you will then use during four progressively deeper divers over the following days on some of the most diverse and unexplored coral reefs in the world. Each evening a short informative presentation covers the academic aspects of the course further developing your knowledge and understanding. There truly isn't any better place to learn!

Earning your PADI Open Water Diver certification is just the beginning. As a certified diver, fabulous dive destinations, exciting people, unparalleled adventure and uncommon tranquillity await you.

PADI Scuba Diver

2 days including 3 Confined Water Dives and 2 Open Water Dives

The PADI Scuba diver course is designed for those with insufficient time to complete the full Open Water course. The qualification, which can be upgraded to the full Open Water qualification at any time, allows you to dive anywhere in the world to 12 meters under the supervision of a PADI professional

PADI Advanced Open Water Diver

2 to 3 days including 5 Open Water Dives

Move up and experience real adventure with the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course and have the opportunity to try some of diving’s most rewarding and useful activities.

This course is designed to improve dive skills making divers feel more comfortable and knowledgeable in the water whilst experiencing a new range of environments and increasing your depth limit to 30 meters. With your PADI Instructor you complete the deep and navigation Adventure Dives. These dives boost your confidence as you build these foundational skills. Then, you choose three additional dives from more than 15 Adventure Dives to complete your course.

Increase your depths and visit cleaning stations whilst watching Manta Rays circle on our stunning deep reefs with a Deep dive, learn the techniques needed to produce wonderful photos of our vibrant flora and fauna with a Digital Photography dive, watch the ocean fly by and experience the currents of the Mozambique channel with a Drift dive, discover the fish diversity of the region, learn about reef surveying and the importance divers have in aquatic conservation with a Project AWARE Fish ID dive, increase your dive times and learn about computers with a Multi-Level / Computer dive, dive safer whilst increasing your dive times by diving with Enriched Air NITROX, plus many more available.

Individual PADI Adventure Dives

1/2 day including short theory session and 1 open water dive

Take a step toward becoming a PADI Advanced Diver and experience new environments. PADI Adventure dives count towards the Adventure Diver & Advanced Open Water qualifications but allow for you to split the course into smaller pieces.

PADI Rescue Diver

2 to 3 days including 5 Open Water Dives

Building upon what you’ve already learned, this course expands on what you already know about how to prevent problems, and how to manage them if they occur. The fun part about this course is rising to challenges and mastering them. Most divers find this course both demanding and rewarding, and at the end, say it’s the best course they’ve ever taken.

As you master rescue techniques, adapting your new-found skills to suit a variety of different situations both in and out of the water, your confidence levels will soar. In addition, the “tool box” of techniques, skills and knowledge you have accumulated throughout the Rescue Diver Program will give you the expertise and confidence to handle almost any emergency situation.

PADI Refresher / PADI SCUBA Review

1/2 day including 1 shallow water dive and 1 open water dive

This is a course for qualified divers who haven’t dived for a while and need to refresh their dive skills. Choose from a short refresh of key skills in our custom built training pool or a full SCUBA review covering a full theory session including tables a confined water session to refresh all skills and a dive to one of house reefs.

Master Scuba Diver

Sharpen Your Skills with the PADI Master Scuba Diver rating. More than a pipe dream? Absolutely! Do it by becoming a PADI Master Scuba Diver – a rating that puts you in a class of distinction – writing your ticket to endless adventure and opportunities through the experience and scuba training that sets you apart.

With the PADI Master Scuba Diver rating, you have reached the highest nonprofessional level in the PADI System of diver education. PADI Dive Master

4 to 6 weeks

Working closely with an Instructor, you will expand your dive knowledge and hone your skills to the professional level whilst developing your leadership abilities. You learn dive leadership skills and complete water skills, as well as training exercises that stretch your ability to organize and solve problems as well as help others improve their diving.

As a PADI Divemaster you’ll be a member of PADI, the world’s largest and most respected diver training organization, you will be authorized to: supervise both training and non-training-related activities by planning, organizing and directing dives, and assist a PADI Instructor during the training sessions for any PADI course.
